***NEW*** Treasures from the Forest Path shawl kit - Bright New Leaves

My lovely friend Patricia of Knitography Farm Designs has created a beautiful range of patterns designed from walks in the forest near her home in Norway. The Treasures from the Forest Path is my favourite and I wear my zingy "new leaf" shawl almost every day!

The yarn in this kit is one of my favourites - it is a rustic but suprisingly soft non-superwash 100% pure wool 

Each kit includes 

• a printed A5 pattern booklet
• 2 x 100g skeins of hand dyed 4ply wool (exact shades may vary according to the dyeing process and your screen resolution)
• a pine cone stitch marker
• in an organza bag

Three times each day during spring and summer, I leave the farm and take to the forest path. Together with my flock of Grå Trønder sheep, we follow along the pathway and climb the mountain. We walk deeper and deeper into the forest until we reach the forest glade, where my little flock frolics and grazes among the forest trees. I use these daily journeys, as opportunities to forage and to fill my basket with the natural windfall treasures that I find upon the forest floor. It brings such inspiration to find these natural gifts to use as decoration or as material within my dye pots.

The Treasures from the Forest Path-A Forager’s Hap was borne out of the act of collecting these gifts from nature to bring home to the farm. This rustic Hap is warm, light, and drapey. It is a traditional, triangular shaped farm Hap, used to wrap yourself up in as you stroll along the forest path with your foraging basket. It is knit from side to side. The 3D path is created along the left edge. You will increase the length and the width of the Hap along the right side. This edge creates the mossy, textured forest floor, from which forest path treasures are collected. Once you reach the forest glade, you will begin to knit a traditional Shetland pine cone lace motif, which is nesteld within a basket matrix. As you knit, you simulate picking up pine cones, one by one. One, two, three...until your basket is full and you return home. The Hap is bound off with a simple, stretchy, bind off technique that, when blocked, creates a lovely edging. This design in its entirety is inspired by the journeys I have made along the forest path together with my little flock and the many treasures that I have collected and brought back home to the farm
