I've been so excited to launch this new collaboration with Sofia Kammeborn!
Sofia Kammeborn is a storyteller, photographer, poet and knitwear designer. She lives on Gotland, a Swedish island in the Baltic sea.
Skymning is a triangular shawl knitted top down and finished with a lace edging.
It has been designed for sport weight yarn but the 4ply Highland pure wool that I have dyed has such a lovely plump feel to it so it will work beautifully.
Needle size 3.5mm
Your Skymning Multi Fun Kit contains
140g natural cream pure 4ply wool from the Peruvian Highlands (see below)
5 x 20g hand dyed mini skeins in bright rainbow like colours (although not the full 7 colour spectrum!) You will therefore receive 250g/100m of yarn
a printed colour pattern booklet
in an organza bag
Please note: this is NOT the yarn colour-way that Sofia has used in her version and your finished item will look different - I was just inspired to dye something similar, but different xx
Peruvian Highland wool is a lovely new yarn from Chester Wool and I asked Jeni for more information on it:
"The great thing about this wool is that yes it is a little more rustic than our other lines, but it is directly helping communities in the highlands around the mill, this kind of wool has fallen out of favour really with the push towards softer yarns, and the mill wanted to see if we could help, so we decided to make some yarns to support the local communities. The herders were unable to sell this kind of wool from the sheep which survive in the harsher climates in the mountains, so the great things about it are that its directly supporting the local communities, its sourced right around the mill, and actually its wonderful yarn."
