I hate having cold arms in the winter - even indoors - so I designed these Fair Isle wrist warmers to play with traditional motifs and happy colour combinations..
They do not have a thumb hole or thumb and there are a couple of reasons why. The first was to make this an accessible pattern to newcomers to stranded colour work so that they could concentrate on the techniques of knitting Fair Isle in the round. The second is that these wristies are so practical and adaptable if you are wearing them while busy doing other things too. I often wear them in the house or shop and because they don't have a thumb I can easily fold them back or push them further down my arm to leave my hands free to wash up or peel potatoes for example, without having to take them off! And so I stay cosy!!
Each kit contains the following:
6 x 25g balls of Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper-weight Shetland wool
a full colour printed pattern booklet with colour work chart
in an organza drawstring bag
The wristies are knitted in the round on 2.5mm double pointed needles which you can add to your order by selecting from the drop down menu below. Alternatively you could use a circular needle if you prefer
